The background of the word 'generated' in the context of 'The generated memory' originates from Nelson Goodman's book "Ways of Worldmaking." In this theory, he refers to the world as inherently pure, existing for itself, and describes it as a "world fit for losing," as its actual existence cannot be determined. Every individual perceives the world through their own symbolic systems. In other words, they live believing that the worlds perceived through each symbol system are the world itself. Goodman asserts that facts are constructed. Just as the world is constructed by symbolic systems (symbol systems, conceptual systems, etc.), facts are also constructed by them. Therefore, according to him, there are no absolute fixed facts.
In the center of the stage are four groups of spectators. As the performance begins, a conversation between two people, containing the content of the main text, is played from speakers on both sides of the screen. Through this performance, the audience experiences four types of cases of memory construction discussed in the main text. Additionally, the sounds generated through their instructions can be considered compositions by the composer Sowon Yun.
