Breathing Space ver.1 (2020)
Theatrical performance with installations.
Concept&Direction: YEODA
Labortheater, Dresden, Germany
This performance was inspired by the term "breathing space" from the 1969 book "Personal Space" by American psychologist Robert Sommer. According to him, this area is the personal space that humans carry and move with, although it may not be visible. It typically remains unseen, but manifests itself when invaded by others. In this performance, eight characters were designed based on personality theories, with each character showcasing how they use their personal space while navigating through narrow paths where collisions with others are inevitable. Through this, the performance explores the differences in personal space management according to each personality type, engaging the audience in a conversation about it.
